Daily Forty-Niner

Newspaper design was something I never imagined myself doing. It was not until I joined the Daily Forty-Niner in May 2019 that I realized how much I enjoyed the craft. During my two years at the Daily Forty-Niner, I had the space and support to be creative with my designs, ideas, and art direction. With the guidance of my design advisor, Gary Metzker, I was able to push myself out of the box and design freely. At the time, the paper was developing a new aesthetic, therefore I had the opportunity to develop the identity of the newspaper. As a result, the Daily Forty-Niner was recognized by the Associated Collegiate Press, California College Media Association, and the Pinnacle Awards for its design aesthetic. Below, are a few designs from my two years at the Daily Forty-Niner.
